The machine is designed for dynamic impact penetration and rapid-tearing tests with high speed. The material specimens are put between the plunger and a fixing device. A MESSOTRON transducer senses the dynamic displacement of the double-acting cylinder and thus allows precise tracking of the plunger motion, even under high-speed conditions. The resulting maximum speed is determined on that basis (up to 20 m/s).
