To measure long distances requires optimised systems to achieve the best result. Magneto-resistive, optical or potentiometric systems allow to measure ranges of up to 500 m.

	Optisches Linearsystem MMD (Meterdrive) Optical linear system MMD (Meterdrive) can cover ranges of up to 500 m with resolution of up to 0,1 mm. A guided belt with a cut-out pattern is sliding though a head with optical sensors, precisely recognising the cut-outs.
	Magneto-resistive linear system MRP The magneto-resistive technology allows accurate sensing over small to large ranges (up to 100 m). A resolution of less than 10 µm can be achieved. The measurement is put out in incremental format.
