Mode of operation long-stroke sensor

Long-stroke sensor with sheathed core (MESSOTRON type WP)

The MESSOTRON long-stroke sensors, type WP, similar to the LVIT, consist of two coil halves, one of which is constructed as a space-saving spare circuit. In contrast to LVIT and LVDT, the behavior of the coil is not changed by a ferromagnetic core inside, but instead a tube (sheathed core) glides over the coil and deprives it of energy proportional to the position according to the eddy current principle.

These somewhat more elaborately constructed systems are characterized by an unrivalled favorable displacement-distance relationship which is especially important in the case of greater displacements (thus “long-stroke sensor”).
